12 Jul Are You Addicted to Bettering Yourself Like Me?
Anyone else have a mild addiction to self-dev??
What does it mean to you to be “better”?
Is it perfection?
Is it taking baby steps?
Is it steady improvement in one area at a time?
Does it mean discipline?
Does it mean hard work?
For those of us who are obsessed with self-development + growth, it simply means it’s part of who we are and have adopted it into our lifestyle.
I’ve always been this way since I was 8 years old when I discovered I was in control of my body. And if I didn’t like something about myself I could change it.
I didn’t like the look of my 50 lb body (yeah scary I actually thought I was fat because I had muscles!) and begged my mom to let me also eat tunafish salad instead of pork roast + potatoes that was being served up for dinner – I wanted to eat the same heathy greens that she was eating for her “diet”.
Luckily over the years, I seemed to have a fairly grounded perspective on healthy eating and didn’t go to a harmful extreme one way or the other.
For me now, a healthy body continues to be part of my daily development plan, but as a business owner, emotional fitness and mindset is just as critical to achieve the level of success that I want.
When we are aware of what it could mean to improve and excel in one area, that alone can give us the inspiration to keep going.
One of my favorite quotes on the subject is from Wayne Dyer:
“You don’t need to be better than anyone else, you just need to be better than you used to be.”
Does that take the pressure off? It does for me.
My measurement is steady growth and my goal is to be better than I was the day before.
Why? Because it feels damn good. And it will hopefully make an impact by inspiring others so they feel good too! And what’s better than sharing the love + feeling good? Pretty much nothin’ y’all!
Interested in ditching the fear??
We’re gonna start doing 7 Day highly-actionable goal-setting sprints next week.
Come join us here in the group!
P.S. Stay tuned… Deets are coming soon…
